Catherine MacDonald (Catriona Uilleam Dholigan) from Swainbost, who emigrated to Canada in 1923 Twenty-year-old Donald MacFarlane (Domhnall MacPhàrlain) from Cross, Ness.  Served in the Lovat Scouts - horse regiment.
Photo taken in Huntington, England, in 1915		 Murdo MacAulay, 34 Swainbost, who returned from Rhodesia to serve with the allies during WW1.  He served with the French Automobile Corps and was awarded the Croix de Guerre.  Macaulay made a fortune in the Rhodesian gold mines
